any other swing state. according to "the washington post," either the president or vice president biden pops up in ohio every three weeks and usually with good financial news for the state. in march ohio got a federal grant for new manufacturing center, it was the first awarded and the administration awarded ohio about $125 million in tax credits to promote clean energy. officials say sometimes good policies also end up being good politics. mitt romney also in ohio wrapping up the three-day romney/ryan bus tour there. while "the new york times" reports that the two plan to campaign more together and they did so yesterday. ryan did the first day of the tour alone and romney will lobby himself today as his running mate moves on to colorado. the latest "washington post" poll has romney down by 8 in ohio but as stephanie mentioned his campaign says it is not worried because its own internal polls are much more favorable however the campaign is refusing to release any specifics on those super secret magic ohio polls. naturally, bloomberg is polling

of those common wisdom -- you know all veterans are going to vote republican. it is not holding true in a lot of the polls. i don't know that that's true. veterans are -- blah, blah, blah. >> it is interesting when you see -- the aarp has a very good get out the vote mechanic. and you can disenfranchise hispanics by their name. you can go through a list of possible voters and pick out the ones that are hispanic. you can even arguably think you're doing it with black voters as well. by using what you would believe are statistically more black-sounding names in washington and these kinds of things. but you would be wrong a good deal of the time. you can see how they would do it. the issue is they can't do that with women and they can't do that with older voters. what they're doing is making it harder for them to get a photo i.d. one of the ways they're trying to disenfranchise the older voters who don't like romney, make sure it is harder for them to get one.

who call and feel the same way. the conventional wisdom about the military always votes for the republicans is not true. >> and if what he said or the lack of what he should say about the military or veterans or even support for the v.a., if it was just that he wasn't giving lip service, it would be one thing but paul ryan and the crowd he leads and who are now permanently attached to the romney ticket are the ones who want to cut v.a. spending. and don't care to care for the soldiers once they come back. when he says military spending, he doesn't mean soldiers. he means defense contractors. because he's a corporatist and that's how they think. if he wanted to mention the soldiers, he would have mentioned the soldiers. and he didn't. >> stephanie: buddy in columbus, you're on "the stephanie miller show." >> caller: hey, mama, real quick. everybody has to see the clip of joe. the rally in ohio. he puts his hands in his face

columbus, ohio, and then seattle >> i'm jacki schechner with a current news update. mitt romney is on the last leg of his three-day campaign tour through ohio. two new polls, "washington post" and quinnipiac have him trailing the president 8 and 10 points respectively. the one area in which romney still has an advantage is when voters are asked whom they think will be better to handle the federal budget deficit. that's what he addressed today at a rally in westerville. >> those debts get passed on to our kids. it is not just bad for the economy. it's not just bad for our job creation. it will, in my opinion, it is immoral for us to pass on obligations like that to the next generation. >> the president is also in ohio today with events at bowling green state uni
